How to get around:

WALK

o Madrid is an incredibly walkable city and can be a great way to explore beyond your destination!

o Although not usually the quickest option, it can be a great way to see the city and accidentally end up at more sights than intended ☺


PUBLIC TRANSIT

o The two most tourist friendly modes of transport are busses and trains. Have google maps downloaded and simply enter your destination. The directions will clarify if a bus, train, or both are most efficient.

UBER

o The uber app will be a less affordable mode, yet potentially the most user-friendly mode of transport.
▪ It functions the same as it would in the US via the app.

TAXIS

o Taxis are also on the streets and can be hailed.

o Taxis are white cars with a red stripe along the side.

TEMPLE OF DEBOB

o The first Egyptian temple relocated to Madrid in the 1960s, originally dating back to 2nd century BC.
▪ On a hill, overlooking the city, makes this a destination for sunset views.

PALACIO REAL DE MADRID (ROYAL PALACE)

o This is the official residence of the royal family.
o 1.2 km  15-minute walk from hotel

CATHEDRAL DE LA ALMUDENA (ALMUDENA CATHEDRAL)

o A prominent cathedral in Madrid with beautiful stained-glass windows, a dome, and general architecture both on the ins and exterior.

PRADO MUSEUM

o The main, Spanish national art museum. Featuring European art from the 12th to 20th century, with artists like Velazquez, Goya, and Titan.

o Right near the Prado Museum, one of the largest parks and gardens in Madrid

o The starting point of all major radial roads, an exemplary clock tower in the heart of Madrid, the iconic square is full of shops and dining options.
